Set in the heart of Montgomery County’s agricultural reserve, Our Lady of the Visitation Parish welcomes all to come relax and walk our fields. Since the Church opened in 2000, our Parish community continues to grow and thrive. In the Spring of 2023 the Church added a serene outdoor space for all to relax, meditate, remember and pray.
Stone Stations of the Cross, donated by the Archdiocese of Washington, were installed along with a brick walkway. Visitors walk the Way of the Cross depicting the fourteen different moments on the day Jesus died and give us the opportunity to pray and reflect on Christ’s sacrifice for us.
After passing the 14th station, the path leads into a brick prayer garden under the shade of a pergola. Visitors are welcome to sit in the shade and take in the view of the Blessed Mother surrounded by a stacked stone grotto. The blessed, healing waters from Lourdes emit a gentle sound as they flow from Her feet to the small pond below.
Leaving the Prayer Garden, visitors walk through the Memorial Garden, a special place where OLVP parents, family and friends can remember babies who died in the womb or at birth. It is also a place for our parish to publicly proclaim the sanctity of life of all humans from the moment of conception. The low stone wall surrounding this garden encourages visitors to spend time in prayer memorializing these precious lives. Families or individuals wishing to memorialize a baby may purchase a plaque below.
Adjacent to the Church, this tranquil, peaceful space provides a prayerful site of healing and contemplation.
